Harry Potter vs. Edward Cullen

Harry Potter and Edward Cullen have been involved in a pretty fierce debate as of late.

And this weekend finally provided the results...

A draw. Well, really, a win win.

As those of you have been following the battle between Kim and myself know, Kim was fairly determined to have me see the movie Twilight this weekend while she was in town... so determined in fact, she saw fit to drag the innocent public (I did not drag....I merely offered them the option of having a say!) into the middle by placing a poll in our blog, which several of you voted on. The results didn't point in any clear direction, but in the end that didn't matter... because I made up my own mind and decided I would indeed put myself directly in the line of danger and risk the possibility of taking on another obsession.

But then Kim would have to risk the same and finally take her first steps through the doors of Hogwarts, hand in hand with Harry, Ron and Hermione.

So... I saw the movie yesterday. And of course, I liked it, and thought about vampires all night long. I think I even dreamt in vampire.

Was it cheesy? Oh yeah... it was. Full of teenage angst, giggling girls and glittery boys... okay, well, just one glittery boy, but still... However, for some reason, this only added to the enjoyment, making me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. And good news for me, I didn't cry once! I admit to ALMOST crying once, but the point is that not one tear escaped my eye. You didn't tell me that when I was still there!

Favorite part of the movie? The baseball scene. Oh, and Jasper's creepy behaviour in general.

Kim was kind enough to give me the first book of the series as part of my Christmas present and I'm debating putting my current read on hold in order to get started. Hee hee hee...

In return to subjecting me to this new obsession, Kim has committed to reading the first 2 Harry Potter books and watching the first movie by the end of the year. I mentioned in a previous posting that she would never have to admit out loud just how much she enjoys them, so we may never know for sure... but we do, don't we... I will commit to being as honest as you have been here...

The irony that Robert Pattinson has played a part in both of these movies (granted, a much larger part in the Twilight series, being the main character and all) did not escape me. Funny, the webs we weave...
