Alrighty, I've been meaning to do this for a bit and just haven't been able to get around to it until now.
I'm sure some of you are wondering what the hell happened to the recaps over the last month or so. Well, there's a few things to admit here.
I'm sure some of you are wondering what the hell happened to the recaps over the last month or so. Well, there's a few things to admit here.
- Life just plain got busy for all of us and finding the time to dedicate to writing and posting the recaps became a little more difficult with day jobs and life stuff.
- Juggling to separate runs of SYTYCD, even though the US ones were only hour long audition eps, was a lot. Three hours of shows roughly turns into at least four hours of time investment when adding writing and posting. For me, I know I wasn't putting my best effort into it and I was finding my posts incredibly repetitive.
- To be completely honest, none of us here at PGTW have been completely enamored with the dancers on this seasons' So You Think You Can Dance Canada. They all did fine, but there just hasn't been anything this season worth jumping on the couch (a la Tom Cruise) over. Last season's dancers and the routines they were given were so stellar, and this year's just haven't measured up for us.
So those are our excuses. Feel free to commence commentary flogging if necessary.
All that being said, there is some excitement building over the newly crowned Top 20 on SYTYCD US. There are some very compelling dancers in that group that could make for some great watching if they're given great routines to go with.
Carly and I have committed to coming back starting next week with the Top 20 performance show, however, the recaps probably won't be as detailed as they once were. You guys are watching too, so you don't need us to reiterate the specifics of what the judges say. I'm envisioning them more like reviews as opposed to recaps; what we liked, what we didn't, who was a jerk, who was irritating, etc. I haven't talked to Carra about it, but I'm sure she'll pop in when she can as well.
Finally, this is me going public...I've started a separate blog of random stuff that doesn't necessarily fit under the rubric of what we're doing here at Pop Goes the Word. If you'd like to pop over for a read, please do so!
So that's it for today. I might jump in on Sunday to write some stuff on the SYTYCD Canada finale, but we'll have to see. I'll be in for the Top 20 Performance show on Tuesday and Carly's going to have to take the results show on Wednesday, because I will be happily engrossed in the wonder that is U2 in Vancouver (and likely bawling my eyes out...just like last time!).
