Does Anyone Every Really Die in Grey's Land?

Okay, I know I haven't posted anything about Grey's Anatomy since the season premiere, but I feel the need right now.

So aside from my premiere gripes, I have been pretty much enjoying this season thus far. Not nearly so heavy, some decent medical storylines, all in all, satisfactory.

Until last night.

Can someone tell me when the writers at Grey's Anatomy are actually going to let Denny be dead? For good. Really. Six Feet Under. Dead. Seriously, I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan has actually had more screen time on this show when his character was dead than he did when alive!

Now don't get me wrong - I like me some Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He's plenty lovely to look at, and I like lookin', but come. on. His character's been dead for two seasons, yet he keeps reappearing.

It's time for the writers to let this go. It doesn't fit anymore and it takes away from the rest of the show. Case in point: The storyline last night about the elderly couple. While it was a rather minor storyline in the episode, it was lovely and touching and something viewers could connect to. The problem is, they'd break from that story and go to Izzie and the dead guy and I'd get frustrated again, completely disconnecting from the other storyline.

I totally get what they're trying to do. It's all about Izzie not having let go. I get that. Really I do. But the visions of Denny are unnecessary. We all watched what happened between Izzie and Denny. Back then it was compelling and gut wrenching and heart breaking. We don't need visions of Denny now to understand that Izzie is still dealing with it two seasons later. We get that she's still tortured and guilty without needing it spelled out for us with visions.

I think that's the crux of it. I don't like that the writers are going for the lowest common denominator, assuming that the viewers aren't smart enough to put all the pieces together without having it made blatantly obvious.

And that's kind of sad, because in the beginning, the reason we all loved Grey's was that it was clever, smart.

Just like us.

I still say that Jeffery Dean Morgan has a great future career playing dead guys.
