So Tomorrow's the Big Day...

That's right. After what seems like years of campaigning, at long last tomorrow the United States will have elected a new President.

Even here in Canada (and likely in other countries as well) there is a great deal of anticipation about the election tomorrow. It is no secret that we here at Pop Goes the Word are supporters of the Democratic ticket and Barack Obama. We believe (and I'm taking the opportunity to speak for Carra here) that Senator Obama holds the most promise and hope for a nation that truly needs it.

So some of you may be asking, "If you're in Canada, why do you care about the American election?"

The answer is simply, the US has been one of the most (if not the most) powerful nation on the planet for as long as I (and likely most of you) can remember. What happens legislatively in the US often has a direct effect on happenings in Canada. So, while we can not vote in the Presidential election tomorrow, we have a vested interest in the outcome.

I am not going to use this forum to appeal to our American readership to vote for a specific candidate. I believe that's a decision you need to come to on your own. What I will ask of our American readers is to please, just vote. Regardless of who you support, it's really easy to look at the polls and figure it's a done deal and your vote won't matter anyway.

It does.

Please, don't be complacent. Use your voice and make it heard. As we've learned in previous elections, nothing is certain until the last vote is counted. Make sure yours is among them.

Cheers!

Huh. Guess that means I better start voting for my favorite SYTYCDC dancers too... complacency is complaceny!

Go Obama Go!
